Principal- Bob Hewitt
Bob Hewitt has been principal for twenty-one years and has thirty-two years in the district. Mr. Hewitt graduated many years ago with a teaching degree from Southern Oregon State College. He received his Masters in School Administration in the late 80's. In his spare time he enjoys power lifting, fishing and bow hunting. |

Susan Carson was born and raised in Ketchikan and graduated from Kayhi. She has been the secretary at Schoenbar for 31 years. Susan and her husband, Harold, have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. In her spare time she loves to kayak, bowl, garden, go boating, beach coming and enjoying the outdoors with her husband, children, and grandchildren. |

Secretary- Karen Lane
Karen Lane was born and raised in Ketchikan and was part of the Kayhi class of '85, go Kings! Karen and her husband Frank have one daughter, Amanda, and in her spare time likes to hike or spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

Dean of Students- Doug Nausid
Doug Nausid has worked at Schoenbar for 32 years! Him and his wife, Tris, have two children: Kelly and Ty. The Nausid's have one dog named Icis. His hobbies include athletics and fishing. He loves to work at Schoenbar because Middle School students make the day fun and exciting. Seeing the students of the students he taught many years ago makes him feel ancient. He has been at schoenbar so long he has even seen a couple of grand kids of former students! |

ESL- Sharon Clepper
After raising a few goats, chickens and sons, Sharon Clepper enrolled at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and earned B.S. degrees in Special and Elementary Education. She moved to Ketchikan with her family in 1990 and taught at White Cliff Elementary School until 1997. Then she went back to college to learn about teaching English to bilingual students. She is currently teaching English as a Second Language classes at Ketchikan High
School and Schoenbar Middle School. |

Math- DeAnne Cope-Powell
DeAnne Cope-Powell has her degree in Accounting and Business Administration as well as her Teaching Certification with an emphasis on Math. DeAnne has been teaching since 1994 and has hobbies such as spending time with family, gardening, and canning foods. |

Life Skills- Gerri Davis teaches Life Skills and English at Schoenbar. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English from Western Washington University and a Master's degree in teaching secondary language arts from Lewis & Clark College. She has taught in many towns and villages throughout Alaska, but realized Ketchikan is the best place of all! She has a son named Atreyu, her dog Daphne, and cats Vera, Rita, Henry, and Lulu. In her spare time, she likes to go on adventures with her son and dog, play in the community band, and listen to the rain.

Librarian- Caitlin Dixon
Caitlin Dixon is the Schoenbar Librarian. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA, and a Master's Degree in Library Science from Catholic University in Washington, DC. She has been a librarian for 16 years and is a Kayhi graduate.
In her free time, Ms. Dixon loves reading (of course!), driving, and playing with Sadie, her Black Lab. |

Resource- Danielle Duckworth
Danielle Duckworth is a Special Education Teacher at Schoenbar Middle School. Mrs. Duckworth received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (1-8) at the University of Missouri @ Kansas City. She received her Master's Degree in Special Education at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. She has been working with students who receive special education services for the last ten years.
Her hobbies include: playing tennis and softball, walking, and making crafts.

Social Studies- Chad Frey
My name is Chad Frey and was born in Missoula, Montana. I grew up there all my life and received my BA in History, minor in Geography, as well as my certification in teaching at the University of Montana (Go Griz!). Since then, I came straight to Alaska and taught four years in a small Yupik-Inupiaq village of Elim on the Seward Peninsula. I teach Geography, US History, and Current Events at Schoenbar. The students here are awesome and I enjoy it very much. I enjoy sea-kayaking, alpine skiing, and hanging out with my family.

English- Robin Harford
Robin Harford teaches 7th and 8th grade English. She grew up in Northern
California. After marrying, she moved to Juneau to work in the Alaskan
Youth Village as a fulltime house-parent. Two children later and a move to
Ketchikan, Robin decided to go back to school. She received her BEd at
Alaska State University, SE and her MAT from Grand Canyon University in
Arizona.
Together, Don (her love of thirty-two plus years) and Robin enjoy spending
time with their four grandchildren, Megan, Torin, Tanton, and Tavin. Robin
also loves to read or watch movies on a dark, rainy day, while the crock-pot
is stewing. |

Math: Evan Raber
My name is Evan Raber and I teach Math. I grew up in Anaheim, CA then moved to Logan, UT for college and earned a B.S. in math from Utah State University. I then moved to moved to Nome for three years. While in Nome I earned my teaching certificate, which lead me to Ketchikan. My hobbies are hiking, hunting, skiing, and just about anything outdoors. |

English- Sheila Klosterman
Sheila Klosterman has taught English at Schoenbar Middle School for
fifteen years. She completed her master's degree in Educational
Leadership from the University of Alaska Anchorage in July 2009. She
earned her bachelor's of science degree from Northern Arizona University
in Secondary Education English in May 1993. She is a Tlingit Indian, and
belongs to the Raven moiety. Her husband is Major Jeff Klosterman of the
U.S. Army. He is currently stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She
has three sons: Kahlil (13), Sylvan (11), and Katlian (7). She enjoys
exercising and quality family time. |

Science- Mike Knight
Mike Knight teaches 7th and 8th grade science at Schoenbar Middle School. He was born in Santa Monica, CA but grew up in Spokane, WA. He received his Bachelor's degree from Washington State University in Pullman, WA and received his teaching certification from Gonzaga State University in Spokane, WA. He has one son, Taylor, two daughters, Elizabeth and Rachel, and his wife is Laura. His interests include hiking, camping, travel, soccer, watching sporting events, and spending time with his family. |

Band- Mary Kurth
Mary Kurth is the Schoenbar Music Director. She was born and raised in Wisconsin and holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. She received her Master’s of Music Conducting Degree from Southern Oregon University. Mrs. Kurth’s years of teaching in Alaska include Kenai, Anchorage, Wrangell and now Ketchikan.
Besides pariticipating in musical activities,she and her husband Mike enjoy scuba diving and spending time with their dogs Princess and Buddy. |

PE- Bill McLaughlin
Hello, my name is Bill McLaughlin and I teach Physical education at Schoenbar Middle School. I came here from Iowa in 2006 with my two daughters Brianna and Kayla. We all love it here in Ketchikan and enjoy the community and town. I am also the Head wrestling coach at both Kayhi and Schoenbar.

Computer Services: Eileen Clark
Eileen Clark just moved to Ketchikan in June 2010. Her husband is in the US Coast Guard and together they have 2 sons, 1 daughter and 1 daughter-in-law. She has lived in 9 different states in the past 25 years. This is her second time in Alaska and she loves it here! She enjoys baking, hiking, fishing, camping and just being with her family.

Resource 8- Vicky Newlun
My name is Vicky Newlun, I grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska. I went to college in Hastings and Kearney, Nebraska, for my BA degree. I worked for a year in Logan, Utah and returned to Kearney, Nebraska and got a MS in Counseling and Education Psychology K-12. I had my son and moved to Ashland, MT and worked for St. Labre Mission for 15 years in Ashland and St. Xavier, MT as a School Counselor. During this time, I got my Master’s degree in Special Education K-12 in Billings, MT. I had my daughter in 1989. I took a job in Yakutat to be near my brothers. We lived there for three years, where I was employed as a School Counselor. We moved to Ketchikan where I then took a job at Schoenbar Middle School as a Special Education Resource teacher where I have been for the past 6 years. |

Counselor- Amy Frazier
Amy attended the University of Central Oklahoma and received her Bachelor's in Business Administration. She later received her Master's of Guidance and Counseling at the same university. She has been a school counselor since 2004 and taught at Kayhi last year. She loves living in Ketchikan and spending time with her husband. |

Social Studies- Alex Pennino
Alex Pennino teaches US History and Geography at Schoenbar and has also helped coach the High School Track team for the last two seasons. He received his B.A. in History at the University of Alaska Anchorage and completed his teaching training at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. |

Reading- Dena Smith
Dena Smith teaches reading. She attended the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in special education and is working on her Master's degree in reading education. Mrs. Smith began her teaching career in 1990. In her free time, Mrs. Smith loves to read, quilt, hike and camp.

Health- Kelly Smith
Kelly Smith teaches health at Schoenbar. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in History, Physical Education, and Health from Eastern Oregon University. Then in 2004 graduated from the University of Alaska Southeast with his Master's in Education.

SLP- Karen Stafford
Karen Stafford is originally from San Mateo, California. She received both her BA and MSPA from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Karen is licensed in Alaska, ASHA certified, and has been an SLP for 30 years in Ketchikan, Southeast Island School District, and school districts in Washington and Utah.
Karen has 2 wonderful daughters, one lives in Phoenix and the other attending Ketchikan High School. Her interests include travel, reading, hiking, enjoying the company of family and friends, and watching local cultural and sporting events. GO KNIGHTS!

Math- Ole' Sullivan
Ole Sullivan has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Central Washington University. He was a Coastguardsman from 1974 to 1978, a Peace Corps Volunteer in Antigua, West Indies from 1983 – 1985, taught at Christ the King High School in Antigua for the 1985 – 86 school year and was a Peace Corp Volunteer in Thailand from 1989 – 1991. He has also worked with several youth groups on short term mission trips to Haiti, Mexico, and Honduras.
Ole has been married to his lovely wife, Nate, since 1990 and they have two children, Sam and Andrew. He is currently President of the Ketchikan-Kanayama Exchange Program. He and his two sons have all travelled to Kanayama and he hopes to return for another visit soon. Ole is also a past president of Schoenbar PTA, active in the First United Methodist Church, and an ongoing participant in the After School Homework Club. He has taught in Ketchikan since 1995 and enjoys travel and woodworking. |

Science- Frankie Urquhart
Frankie Urquhart is a science teacher at Schoenbar Middle School. Mrs. Urquhart received her Bachelor of Science in biology from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon, and her Teaching Certificate from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Mrs. Urquhart graduated from Kayhi in 1993, which is where she first met her rather dashing, future husband, Bill Urquhart. She has 3 beautiful children, Liam (4 years old), Neila (2 years old), and Torran (3 months old).
Mrs. Urquhart’s hobbies include cooking, sewing, being outdoors, home improvement projects, and spending time with her family.

Art- Angel Williams
Angel Williams teaches Art and was born in New Mexico, raised in Colorado, and migrated to Alaska immediatley following college. She recieved a bachelors degreee and teaching certification in Biology from Colorado State University. She has been teaching at Schoenbar since 1991. She has in her years taught almost every subject here except English and Shop and happily settled into Art. She is married to Kelly Spencer and her lovely three children are Kyrie, KellyPat, and Keenan. In her spare time she creates Northwest Coast Art, quilts, and watercolor paintings.

School Sucess Coordinator- Darcel Williams
Darcel Williams is a 2002 Kayhi graduate and was a member of the Lady Kings. She received her Bachelors in Anthropology and Sociology from Middlebury College in 2006 and then moved to Unalaska/Dutch Harbor to work as a Behavioral Health Aide/Outreach Prevention Coordinator for the Aleutian/Pribiof Island Association. She grew up in Metlakatla, Alaska and belongs to the Raven Clan.
